M✓A✓P✓L✓ Canadian songwriter Lori Cullen delivers ten original contemporary folk songs with a pure, unaffected style. BLOOD WONDER tells the story of Lori’s intimate journey of motherhood. Of her longing to be a mother, the loss of failed pregnancies, the pain of a stillbirth, the birth of her son and the joy that motherhood now brings. The optimistic and hopeful songs were composed with Lori’s guitar and voice and include two co-writes with friends Ron Sexsmith and Jennifer Foster. Co-produced by her dear friend Chris Gartner, it features lush strings by Grammy-nominated arranger Drew Jurecka and additional vocals by Michelle Willis and Thom Gill. Unforced, unfiltered and exceptionally intimate, Lori Cullen’s aerial voice has been called “one of the purest of a generation”. She is a searingly direct and authentically driven artist and in her eight albums she’s taken chances every time. Lori’s career began in the late 90’s in Toronto’s singer/songwriter circuit where she effortlessly cultivated a loyal fan base with her unique hybrid of folk, pop and jazz. She is known for her songwriting and unique song interpretations across genres and has been identified as one of the luminary jazz giant Kurt Elling’s “new favourite singers.” |
