Daft Punk unveil Memory Tapes, a look back at the creation of their final album Random Access Memories
This press release was provided to Vivascene by Sony Music Canada
As a continuation of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of their final album, Random Access Memories, today Daft Punk reveal Memory Tapes, a new series of interviews with key artists who collaborated on the album.
In anticipation of the launch of Random Access Memories ten years ago, Daft Punk worked with The Creators Project to capture an interview series called The Collaborators, in which the album collaborators spoke about their experiences creating the music that became the seminal album. Memory Tapes is a follow up, a decade later, for the album collaborators to revisit Random Access Memories, share their memories of the recording process, and examine the impact that the album and Daft Punk have had on their own careers, and on culture in general.
Interviews for Memory Tapes were conducted at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and Gang Studios in Paris, in spaces where much of Random Access Memories was recorded, and where the collaborators worked. Along with each interview, the episodes contain archival footage and never before seen studio footage of Daft Punk as they crafted what became their final album.
The first episode of the Memory Tapes series launched with Julian Casablancas to coincide with the 10th anniversary edition of Random Access Memories, and today Memory Tapes Episode 2 with Chilly Gonazales is unveiled. Upcoming episodes will feature Panda Bear, DJ Falcon, Todd Edwards, Pharell Williams, Nile Rodgers and Paul Williams & Chris Caswell.
Random Access Memories 10th Anniversary Edition debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The original album is a 2x Platinum, GRAMMY-award winning Album of the Year. “Get Lucky” is 8x Platinum, a #1 single in the UK. The 10th Anniversary Edition is available now in multiple formats: 3 LPs, 2 CDs, streaming, and download.
